Round trip

In the context of trading, a round trip refers to the opening and closing of a position. This means that a trader has entered a trade by buying or selling a financial instrument and then closed the same position by selling or buying back the same amount of the instrument. A round trip can result in either a profit or a loss for the trader, depending on the difference between the buying and selling price of the instrument.
