Gunning / Gunned

In trading, gunning or gunned refers to a market situation where traders or market makers attempt to move the price of a security or currency to trigger stop-loss orders or options barriers that are clustered at or around a certain price level. Essentially, gunning occurs when market participants try to manipulate the market to their advantage. This can happen in any financial market, including stocks, bonds, commodities, and currencies. The term “gunning” is derived from the idea of shooting or aiming at a target, in this case, a particular price level.
