Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is the time zone that is based on the Prime Meridian, which passes through the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London, England. It is the standard time used in the UK during the winter months and is also commonly used as a global time standard. GMT is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST) in the United States, so when it is noon in New York, it is 5pm in London.
