In the forex markets, a cross can refer to two different things:

  1. Cross currency: A currency pair that does not include the US dollar, such as EUR/GBP.
  2. Cross trade: A trade that does not involve US dollars, such as buying euros with Japanese yen.

In both cases, the term “cross” is used to distinguish these transactions from those that involve the US dollar.
